Every session includes all supplies: traps, bait, nets, buckets, instruction, and hands-on help. You just bring your crew, sunscreen, and excitement!
Dock sessions are a summer activity, so think comfortable, casual, and ready for a little splash. Wear clothes you do not mind getting wet or sandy. Old t-shirts, shorts, and flip flops are often the uniform on the dock, and hands-on animal interactions mean there is always a chance of water and sand. Sunscreen and a hat are helpful on sunny days. If you are joining us for an evening session, keep in mind that winds off the water can feel cooler than expected, so bringing a light layer is always a good idea.
Yes! You’re welcome to keep any crabs that are within legal size and species limits. We’ll help you measure them and identify what’s allowed! Anything too small gets gently released back into the bay.
Safety is our top priority. Weather and dock conditions are continuously monitored leading up to and during each session, and all safety decisions are made at the discretion of Crustacean Nation. If conditions become unsafe, including lightning, strong winds, or hazardous water or dock conditions, families will be promptly updated and may choose to reschedule or receive a refund. Light drizzle alone does not require cancellation. Sometimes that is when the dock feels the most magical, and we are happy to continue as long as it remains safe.
Yes! All ages are welcome with an adult present. Our sessions are great for families with curious little crabbers. For solo sessions, we recommend ages 6 and up who are comfortable following instructions and handling equipment independently.
